Uneven skin tone. [21 Jun 2008|03:10am]

My skin's pretty uneven, with parts of my forehead and my neck being darker than other parts of my face. My mom says it's just "dirt" and I need to scrub harder. Somehow, I doubt that.

Is there anything I can do to even out my skin? Any products you can recommend? Thanks.

Filthy Pores [17 May 2008|01:44pm]

I need some suggestions for products that fight dirty pores. I wash daily and use non-comodegenic (however it's spelled) moisturizers and sunscreen, but I still regularly have problems with the pores on my face filling to the brim with dirt. Scrubbing only helps a little.

Nadionola with Hydroquinone [27 Apr 2008|09:03pm]

I am using a cream product that has 3% hydroquinone for fading hyperpigmentation on my face. I have a lot of individual "dots" of hyperpigmentation, and it's easier for me to apply the product if I rub it into one large area (such as, one whole cheek), even though the whole cheek doesn't need it. Has anyone who has used hydroquinone had any problems with applying it where it isn't needed? I have a slight fear that I'll end up making the unblemished parts of my face lighter, especially since I'll probably be using this product for quite a while.

Mineral Makeup [30 Mar 2008|04:49pm]

Does anyone use mineral makeup?

I've been seeing a ton of it in stores and since I hate that heavy makeup feeling, but still want to look polished, I want to try it. I am worried about how the colors would look on my skin (that's me in my icon). Does anyone here use it? What are you using? Any recommendations?

skin care suggestions? [17 Aug 2007|02:45pm]
I need some suggestions on good skin care products to use for my face. Anything that does not leave me dry or doesn't have a moisturizer that leaves my skin feeling greasy or oily. I'm also looking for some new body moisturizers that aren't greasy or oily and keep me moisturized throughout the day.

Thanks in advance to all.

Up until a few weeks ago I would wear MAC makeup but I think it's been causing my random breakouts so I've been going makeup free. I was wondering what kind of makeup you guys wear and/or would suggest? thank you :)

Dr. Taylor Speaks On The Characteristics Of Brown Skin

For the past two decades my passion has been understanding skin of color. As a practicing dermatologist, and Founding Director of the Skin of Color Center, I have treated sensitivity, dull, uneven skin tone, hyper-pigmentation (dark marks), blemishes and acne, which are all major problems for skin of color. I am delighted to bring to you, Dr. Susan Taylor's Rx for Brown Skin, which I personally formulated to provide safe and effective skin care solutions for these problems. The Rx for Brown Skin difference is that my regimens are free of potentially harmful ingredients (such as fragrance, lanolin, alcohol, propylene glycol, and dye) that can damage brown skin. In addition, my skin care regimens contain my Bright Skin ComplexTM, a blend of 3 natural ingredients, hyaluronic acid, soy and pomegranate for soft, even and radiant brown skin.

Brown skin comes in many different shades from olive and yellow to dark brown and black. Whether you are South or Southeast Asian, Latino or Hispanic, African or African American, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or multiracial, Dr. Susan Taylor's Rx for Brown Skin is your personalized prescription to help you maintain, restore and uncover flawless brown skin.

Sincerely, Susan C. Taylor, MDRead more...Collapse )

I'd also like eyeshadow color tips. and maybe shades of red lipstick that would work. I've been dying to try that. :[

[13 May 2007|01:24pm]

Any suggestions for eyeshadow colors that would work for me? I want to start wearing brighter/bolder colors, but I'm not sure if they would look good.

Here are two of my pictures:

The boldest I've done so far are gold and a really vibrant, deep green, but they were both from Clinique and therefore quite tame. I was thinking of trying a bright plum, blue, or even reds/pinks. I want to stand out, but not look *scary*.

Any suggestions/criticms/advice would be very welcome.

[ mood | energetic ]

Hey everyone,
I am posting because I need advice about covering scars. Long story short, my very irresponsible roommate had a cat that she neglected to tell me had fleas and when I came back from winter break, the apartment was infested. I was bitten all over but especially on my legs and feet and the scars left were pretty bad. I have been applying vitamin E and trying to drink substantial amounts of water to make my skin heal faster but it is not healing as fast as I would like it to be.

I just wanted to know if anyone knew of any kind of makeup or concealer, made specifically for the body as opposed to the face or if anyone knows of anything that would not look odd on my legs or smudge all over everything. My birthday is next week and I have been eyeing the cutest dress to wear out to dinner but my legs still have the scars from the bites and it makes me feel so self-conscious every time I try a dress on.

Thanks in advance & this has been X-posted.

Navel Piercings [13 Jan 2007|04:34pm]

I'm entertaining the idea of getting one and I just wanted to know people's experiences with rejecting, scarring, and when I (eventually) take it out what is my belly button going to look like?
Thanks in advance.

[19 Dec 2006|08:58pm]

what concealer do you guys use for under eye? I dont have bad circles but when i use the mac touch up stick but while it covers the darkness around my mouth and random scars on my cheeks, it does NADA for my under eye cirlces. Like I said it's not bad but if I try and do a whole face of makeup it looks undone with it like that. WHat do you guys use to make em dissappear?

Facial scarring [05 Dec 2006|06:40pm]

I know this doesn't pertain to hair, but hopefully someone can help me.

I wear glasses (plastic frames) and the side of my nose where the glasses sit, is discolored.

I'm using these rubber clear nose pad which actually helped lighten the scars so far, but they're still pretty dark. I want to stop wearing glasses and relieve some of the pressure from that area, but I can't wear contact for more than 3 or 4 hours.

Are there any tips or products that can help me lighten this area? I'm tired of wearing makeup to cover up the discolorations. Thanks!

hey everyone! my name is amber and i've been a member of this community for some time i just never posted. anyway i have a problem going on with my skin, theres fine lines within my face. i'm not over reacting because everyone seems to agree that my face has way more fine lines than a 16 year old should have.

i was wondering if i should use one of those over the counter sking rejuvenating creams or goto my doctor to be refered to a dermatologist?
